A songwriter’s challenge to complete and document one new song every week for a year.

Description: Adam Blinov is the songwriter behind the 52 Song Marathon. He is musician and producer living in Toronto, Ontario. Working with artists across Canada to help them craft their unique sound over the past 5 years has given him unique insight into the creative process. With the “52 Song Marathon” he is challenging himself to consistently be true to this idea and to invite people inside the beginning stages of songwriting and musical creativity.

This announcement comes shortly after Valentine announed their much anticipated comeback shows which have already sold out.  There are, however, plenty of tickets availble for Roskilde.  Check it our here

It’s impossible to describe their style in a few simple adjectives, or at least we just didn’t want to try.  But, according to them their music is best described as “Upper West Side Soweto,” whatever that means. 

Their influences are diverse, ranging from African popular music to Western Classical.  Their offbeat humor and effective use of strings and other instruments not usually associated with indie rock serve them well.

Frontman, James Petralli, was a baseball player and nearly followed the rest of his family into a professional baseball career. 

Petralli’s grandfather was a catcher for the Washington Senators.  His dad, Gino Petralli was a catcher for the Texas Rangers, who coincidentally are the incarnation of the former Washington Senators, and his brother is currently being heavily scouted by Major League teams.  James’ rebellious attitude and party mentality, however, proved too much for the wide world of sports and he turned to garage-rock mayhem.
